AC Installation & Replacement
A new system sized for your house, not for the invoice
Two thirds of the replacements we're called to look at were oversized by whoever installed them. We measure first.
How we size it
Sizing is the whole job. We walk the house, measure window area and orientation, check insulation depth in the attic, look at duct sizing and static pressure, and run the numbers. An oversized system short cycles: it drops the temperature fast, shuts off before it pulls humidity out, and leaves you with a clammy 72-degree house and a compressor that wears out early. That's the most common thing we fix by replacing someone else's install.
What you'll actually get quoted
Most Lehigh Valley homes land on a 2 to 3.5 ton system. We quote two or three options in writing — a solid single-stage unit, and a two-stage or variable-speed option if your house and budget justify it. The quote lists model numbers, SEER2 rating, what's included, and what's not. No "good, better, best" theater designed to steer you.
- Single-stage 14.3 SEER2 condenser with matched coil: typically $6,200 – $8,400
- Two-stage 16 SEER2 with variable-speed air handler: typically $9,000 – $12,500
- Full system with furnace replacement at the same time: typically $11,000 – $15,000
Those are real ranges from our recent jobs, not teaser pricing. Your number depends on tonnage, line set access, electrical, and whether the plenum needs rebuilding.
Install day
Two techs, usually 7:30 AM to mid-afternoon for a straight condenser and coil swap; a full system takes the day. Drop cloths on floors, shoe covers on, and we keep the mess in one place. Before we leave we start the system, check superheat and subcool, verify static pressure and temperature split, set the thermostat up with you, and walk you through the filter size and where the shutoffs are.
Rebates worth knowing about
High-efficiency equipment often qualifies for a PPL rebate, and heat pump conversions can qualify for the federal 25C tax credit. We fill out the rebate paperwork as part of the job — we don't make you chase it, and we don't quote a price that depends on a rebate you may not get.
