After-hours diagnostic is $145 instead of $95. Repair pricing is the same as daytime — we don't mark up parts because it's dark out. Maintenance plan members pay no diagnostic fee at any hour.
What to do while you wait
No heat
- Set the thermostat to heat, raise it 5 degrees, and check the batteries. Confirm the furnace switch on the wall or side of the unit is on.
- Check the filter. If it's fully clogged, replace it — a limit trip on airflow is common and self-resetting.
- Close off unused rooms, open interior doors, and gather everyone into one or two rooms.
- Below 20 degrees: open cabinets under sinks on exterior walls and let one faucet drip to protect pipes.
- Do not run a gas range, charcoal, or an unvented kerosene heater indoors for heat. That's how carbon monoxide poisonings happen.
- Space heaters are fine on their own outlet — never a power strip or extension cord, and never left running while everyone's asleep.
No cooling
- Turn the system to off — not just up — if the indoor coil is iced. Set the fan to on to help it thaw; that takes two to four hours.
- Close blinds on the sun side and run bath and kitchen exhaust fans.
- Check the outdoor disconnect and the breaker. If the breaker trips again, leave it off.
- If it's over 90 and someone is elderly, pregnant, an infant, or on medication that affects heat tolerance, don't wait it out — tell us that when you call and you go to the front of the list.
- Put box fans in windows on the shaded side after sundown to flush hot air.
Response times, honestly
On a normal night we're at your door in 60 to 90 minutes anywhere in Whitehall, Allentown, Bethlehem, Catasauqua, Coplay, Northampton, or Fullerton. During a valley-wide cold snap, when every furnace in the Lehigh Valley fails on the same night, it can be four to six hours — and we'll tell you that number when you call instead of promising an hour and leaving you watching the window. Maintenance plan members get placed first, which is the most concrete benefit that plan has.
